Mos Eisley Checkpoint

Well... there's not a huge amount to say about this one really. I reckon it's from between 1978-1979. It's an attempt at a big dramatic 1 panel page and a good one to start 'Chapter 3' of the comic. That is, chapter 3 of whatever configuration the comic was in at that time. But then, as we know readers: pages were revised, removed and often replaced.

Christopher Lee: Bafta Fellowship Award

What a tearjerker - lump in the throat few moments that was. Lee received his BAFTA fellowship just now. I was afraid to speak in case I got croakey.

The Prequel Trilogy films mightn't have been his finest achievements but then neither were his most well-known Hammer roles. It seemed only natural that he should be chosen by Lucas when his great friend, the late Peter Cushing had also appeared in a major role in Star wars. George likes to keep reminding us, creating and maintaning those little connections, back 30 odd years to the original great film.

Yes, Lee came onstage looking more frail than I had anticipated and it was hard to fight back the lump in the throat. It's wonderful that he's had such a resurgance in recent years with major movies, and he's performed so well in them all: Lord of the rings, Star Wars, Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

What will we tell wee Johnny when he's gone? At a tender 5 years of age, he loves the Prequels and The Clone wars.

Harry loves Jar Jar, the Podrace and all the other gumf regular 'fans' hate - George made them for the kiddies ;)
That said - loving the stretchy trooper.

God, do you think when the kids are adults, they'll still feel a fondness for Jar-Jar? A cherished memory like Chewbacca or Ernie and Bert.

I remember liking Jar-Jar when I first saw the film at about 9 or 10 years old, but upon a second watching at 13, depised him greatly.

Ha ha! Interesting - and reassuring, Aelfrey! So the older fans are 'right' after all.

Of course, around the same time I went back to see Episode 2 like three times in theaters for the cheesy romantics that had my prepubescent senses all a-tingle, but realized shortly after just how STUPID those scenes were! ^__^

The clumsiest depiction ever! What the hell did she see in that weirdo?
