Cor, that 3rd panel's a bit gruesome eh? Yes, readers, it's the very real human-impact of the action. So spare a thought for the poor expendable henchmen.
Art Notes
I'm sorry, but unless inspiration strikes in the next few hours, I don't have much to say about today's page. But I reckon it's from around 1981. It's a pity that I didn't try to use colour more often isn't it?
Did any of you have that fantastic poster of Han and Chewie posing in front of the Falcon - a shot that you never saw in the film. I loved that pic. Can't remember where I got it. Long gone now I think. I found this nice, battered old puzzle online and decided to pop it in here. Stirs more feelings of nostalgia than any, perfectly preserved, pristine one ever could.
Aah... memories eh? 'Interlocking pieces'. Very innovative!
That poor Trooper getting his head blasted reminds me once again of the shockingly (and implausibly) gory lines from the novel describing the attack on the Tantive IV:
"(the Stormtrooper's) head a mass of melted bone and metal."
I won't say much more but take a look at this, Calvin and Hobbes fans.

Postscript: Watching that shocking aerial scene of the Tsunami through my fingers, as it terrifyingly and unstoppably crawled inland in Japan, this morning. I thought - this is really terrifying stuff - this is real. It's not CGI. That monstrous, merciless mass, destroying everything before it, undoubtedly has people in it. That little white car desperately trying to do a 3 point turn on the road to escape the onslaught - has a person - or people in it. I wonder if they survived?
Sometimes it's a good thing to live in a country as boring as Ireland. No snakes, no huge natural disasters, very little serious crime. We're luckier than we think.

ZAKOW!
What do I love about today's panel?
Han's pose in box 2, Melty Trooper and an exasperated utterance from TK8008 down there.
In one panel you've managed to make me feel more for Stormtroopers than ever before - :)
(For uninitiated readers, trooper 'tee-kay-boob' is from bluemilkspecial.com )
