warlord secret agent wallet

Frederic March as Hyde - 1931

I hate this page. And Motti looks like Mr.Hyde! He also has that Warlord Comic evil Nazi look again.

There must be a couple of pages missing here. I hate to say it, but they were probably thrown away. They must have existed - because so much good dialogue is omitted:

"Foul stench..."
"Charming to the last."
"Far too trusting..."

Yep, looks like I'll definitely have to create some more new 2011 pages at some point! If I ever have any time.

Destruction of Alderann on PBS

star wars radio drama cast

The superb radio cast of 1981.
L-R: Brock Peters (Vader), unknown, Ann Sachs (Leia), Keane Curtis (Tarkin), unknown - Ben Burtt?

The Brilliant Radio Drama

You know, this scene was even more thrilling in the PBS radio drama of 1981? I listened to it in broad daylight on the train recently and it really gave me the tingle-factor. The actors performing Tarkin and Leia - Keane Curtis and Ann Sachs - played a blinder. If you've never heard it, or at least haven't since you were young (I hadn't in 30 years) I strongly urge that you do. Absolutely magical exciting stuff. It greatly adds to the film. Curious? You might like to join the Facebook page which I set up a couple of months ago. That was good of me wasn't it? Actually, It took a couple of minutes and I pretty much neglected it for weeks. Then "aaaaaaah" (God Music) an Irish man called Damien Slattery stumbled across it and now does most of the work uploading great images and article links. Thank goodness! And thank you Damien.

"You may think you've seen the movie; wait 'til you hear it!"

A Slogan for the series

Apart from the Alderann genocide scene in which you really get to feel the full evil of Tarkin and Leia's grief, other notable goosebump moments are: the messy, unplanned killing of a certain Imperial Lord who's name I'll omit so as not to spoil your enjoyment (Ann Sachs is electrifying once again); and the TIE fighter attack on the Falcon. Could that really be as good as the film? It could. The Beggar's Canyon race is a real rush - as is the Battle of Yavin.

Director John Madden said,

"Anyone who's ever listened to radio drama will testify to the fact that a play you hear will (remain) in your mind - twelve years later you'll remember it vividly. And the reason you'll remember it vividly is because you've done the work... it lives in your imagination."

He's right, I remembered so much of it after 30 years!

Just on closing, we should get Damien to tell us about his annual trips to Tunisia with his fellow pilgrims. You may have recently seen the Cantina building photo on the SWa9 Facebook page.

I think Rod Hannah would like it too. Where is Rod? - the scoundrel. He never comments anymore.

An ex-boss of mine once said during a production meeting: "If you're not here - you get slagged!"

Ha ha! You know Tom, my sister once asked me when I started this, "has anyone ever accused you of faking the comic?" I said, "Funnily enough, no. It's something I've often wondered about."

To be honest, if it was faked, or if I had kids chained in a basement churning this stuff out - it'd definitely be much funnier than it is!

Your suggestion interests me however. Food for thought.

You don't really make mention of it in your comments, but that bottom panel looks really well-done. At least, when I first saw I was like "Wow, nicely executed!" With the splash of color and the realistic-looki ng eyes and the teary expression... I don't wish to doubt your young work, but was this perhaps "borrowed" from a comic? If not, it's great! ^__^

Thanks - no, I don't think it was copied. Maybe influenced by something else. I'm surprised at how sentimental and mushy it is
