They're Madmen! (13)

Cut and paste - again

First of all, congratulations to T.Gatto and family! - on the birth of wee Ruth Elisabeth! He says Salacious Crumb was rejected from the baby names list).

A wibbly-wobbly, hard to read one today. Before Empire was released in Ireland in 1980, the day before my birthday; John S and I, rushed down to the amazing local village newsagent in Ballymore Eustace (« described previously) because one of us had spotted that the novelisation of the long-awaited sequel had just come into stock.

We excitedly dashed in the front door of the shop - which was basically a cottage - and scanned the kitchen table which, pushed under the front window of the kitchen/parlour served as the display area for all the newspapers, magazines, comics and occasional book. There they were! A regular copy, and an easy-reader version for youngsters. We looked at the money in our palms. The 'easy-reader' version was cheaper, around 90p. I got that. We had them read-through by 10 o'clock that night! My, but we were more excited than ever about the new movie. It did give away one or two of the big surprises but didn't spoil it at all when we finally saw it in the very basic cinema in Naas town.

Besides, I think Marvel comic had already given the game away about Luke's dad in the weekly comic!

SWa9 Easy-Reader Version

I appreciate that this page is genuinely hard-to-read - so feel no shame readers, as I provide you with the easy-reader transcription:

[The comlink - in this version - built into the desk, pleads]

"...COME IN C-3PO!

[Troops get thru (spelling learnt from Marvel) door]

KLIK "Theyve gone... huh that cabinet!" KLIK

"HELP!" Cries Threepio from behind the door.

"Blast, just a pair of droids." says the Trooper in disgust.

"Theyre madmen sir theyre heading for the prison level" pleads Threepio.

"Right men lets go get those blasted rebels"

"...OME IN THREEPIO" crackles the comlink again

[whisper]"Master Luke! Shh!"

Thanks for reading! Care to comment?

Thanks John!

Not bad at all, even if it is a bit hard to read.
Is C3PO trying to do the Robot in the last panel?

Ha ha - the speed lines indicate him whirling around in response to Luke's voice. Not er, pelvic thrusting. So you're saying that 3PO's having an affair with the comlink - heard the trooper coming home and hid in the wardrobe/closet ? Then as soon as hubby's back is turned... This is too much! :D

I saw that comlink on the desk as a droid on the floor...
Nice mixed media effort today. Thanks.

Re: droid on the floor - he's even got radio-control-r eceiver antenae. Radio/remote controlled cars would have been a big thing then back then. Those and metal detectors!

Re: mixed-media - I wonder if there's a drawing underneath? Another page had one that I discovered after I loosened the Airfix Glue! starwarsage9.com/.../...

Droid on the floor actually reminds me of a cybermat. It's a geekarama.
