Art Notes: Near Death - by Giant Calamari Rings
This is a part of the film we never saw - eh? So much for: "I don't know, it just let go of me and disappeared..." Nah. Borrrring. Bring on the gore!
I wonder what that inset panel 2 was going to be? A smiling Chewie with a bit of Calamari ring hanging from the side of his mouth? We'll never know readers. Actually, there's a thought: maybe you can suggest something funny?

I'm puzzled by the black biro that seems to be scribbled all over the characters. Is it added grime? I'd initially guessed that it was the contribution of my 1 year old little sister (now 33!) - but the word SPUT is also in black. So maybe I did it (very roughly) myself.
Literary Notes: Drawing Room Conversation
THE WALLS "GETTING" CLOSER
So the walls are "getting" closer. Is Han quoting someone else who'd predicted that it would happen?
"Oh yeah, look everyone! Do you you remember when the old geezer said 'look out when the walls start getting closer because that means you're all about to die; so, nice knowing you all - in advance. I'll be thinking of you when I'm shutting down the tractor beam and not getting crushed."
Or was he being ironic?
"Observe, my friends: the walls - non-living objects incapable of unassisted mobility - are 'getting' closer which is my ironic use of a verb, as if to say that they are sentient entities intent on our destruction and hence getting, that's to say, moving themselves. What say you all?"
"YEOW!"
"I concur. Another brandy?"

God, what a load of tosh. So, about that second panel. What do you think should go there?
Thanks for reading! Care to comment?

Obviously, Han is being very existential in the last panel, though - they only "think" the walls are "getting" closer, but it's all in their minds, plainly.
Obviously.
Do they get many people landing in the compactor? Does the Dia Noga depend on these freak occurances to stay alive?
1- It was what was on Luke's [blank] mind.
2- It was the missing scene, where everyone washed up, and was suddenly spotlessly clean, after the trash compactor. It's blank out of modesty for the showers they all took. Just picture Han getting the soap after Leia, Luke, then Chewie, and saying; "Force Damn it, look at all this hair on this soap!; Wait a minute some of it's not from the wookie! It's not Blonde either; I guess Her Worshipfulness forgot to shave her legs !; Say that really is her natural hair color!" Eew!
How long did it take to get the smell out of the Wookie anyway?
Yeah - Chewie must have been really ponging. As someone who grew up with pet dogs I know exactly what you mean. No I wouldn't like to see the soap after Chewie finished with it.
